No-Knead, SUPER Easy 100% Whole Wheat Bread!!

I love homemade bread. I'm sure everyone does. (Except maybe some weird people who don't like bread. Do such people exist???? I have no idea.)

I know though, that some people don't have any desire to get all flour-y and don't have a kitchen aid. So here is a recipe for anyone that has a bowl, a spoon, a bread pan, and a pulse. If for some reason you don't meet this criteria, yet you HAVE a bowl, a spoon, and a bread pan, you should log off and call 911.

Okie, dokie then, here are the things you'll need:

  • 2 Tsp. honey
  • 2 2/3 Cup lukewarm water
  • 4 Tsp. dry yeast
  • 3 Tbsp. Molasses
  • 5 Cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 Tsp. salt
  • 1/4 Cup wheat germ
  • 1 Tbsp. Oatmeal (optional for "bakerish professional look" ha ha)

So, start off by putting the flour, wheat germ and salt in a large mixing bowl. Whisk to combine.

Then put the warm water into a bowl, or if you have one of these Tupperware, old-school measuring cups, use that! Then add the molasses, honey, and yeast, and stir.

Let the yeast get all foamy (Doesn't this look crazy foamy? Like root beer...)

Then pour that into the dry ingredients, and mix it up really well. Ok, seriously, that's pretty much it! Wasn't that easy? I mean, you still have to bake it, but as far as bread goes, that's super simple isn't it??

Spray a 9x5" loaf pan with cooking spray. Grease it really well, you don't want bits of the crust to stick. I like this spray, which also has flour, so it helps prevent sticking.

Put the dough into your greased pan, smooth the top with a wet spatula, and then sprinkle some oatmeal over the top:

Then you want to heat the oven to 400 degrees and set the pan on top of the stove, and let the dough rise until it's level with the top of the pan. I let mine rise too much, because I was talking to Wade and forgot about it. But it still worked out!

Then, put the bread in the oven and bake it for 35-40 minutes. DO NOT UNDER BAKE!! If you do, the center will be all doughy and not delicious.

Cool it in the pan for a few minutes, then cool it the rest of the way on a cooling rack.

I got this recipe from here:
This bread is super delicious, and makes GREAT sandwiches!! It's really filling! (and it also has a lot of fiber, so don't eat to many pieces in one day, if you know what I mean....) Also, you want to store it in the fridge, or it gets moldy quickly, I think because there's no preservatives.

So you should make it! And then you should tell me how it turned out if you do make it! :)

DINNER TONIGHT:
Leftovers. You know, I like to keep my Friday nights exciting.
